• In Brazil:
Daycare for
subsistence fishermen
The Evangelical Mission for Assistance to Fishermen operates a daycare
for children in the village of South Barcelos. The daycare centre is
an extension of their work with desperately poor fishermen who work
long hours just to survive.
At the daycare centre, the children receive
two meals each day and clothing if needed. Skill development and
Bible stories are
also taught. Medical and dental assistance is provided regularly.
The ministry has recently launched a second daycare program
to serve the needs of this community.

• In Guatemala: Quality
education
for urban poor
Guatemala's crowded school system serves only half of the country’s
school-aged children. The majority of those left out are Spanish
and Indian children. The Latin American Evangelical Institute
has responded to make it possible for these children to receive
a quality education.
The program provides Christian education for children from kindergarten
through high school. Sponsors provide a child in Guatemala with education,
good nutritious food and an opportunity to learn about the Lord Jesus
and His message of love and acceptance.
