Christian Humanitarian Response: Africa

• In Ghana: Equipping women
for a life of dignity

Without access to education and job training, women in rural Ghana are often given in marriage in return for a dowry. Purchased by older men who have other wives, girls as young as 14 are used like servants, and within a year they have their first child.

At their women’s vocational institute, our partner teaches liberating job skills such as tie-dye, weaving and dressmaking. Equipped with these skills, young women gain a sense of dignity and independence as they launch their own businesses. They also carry the Christian message back to the unreached people groups from which they came.
