• In Bolivia: Vegetable gardens
In the high Andes harsh growing conditions and a lack of nutritional
understanding have combined to produce an unhealthy and unbalanced
diet in most native Quechua communities. Potatoes are available
locally, but other fresh vegetables are an unaffordable luxury
in most households.
Our partner provides training, seeds, fertilizer and farming tools
for Quechua communities to grow carrots, lettuce and onions. These
community gardens will immediately improve the health and energy
of children and adults in these remote villages.

• In Peru: Guinea pig ranch
People living in impoverished regions often lack an affordable source of protein
in their diet. This deficiency results in general poor health in the community
and hinders the normal growth and development of children. As ‘different’ as
it may seem, raising guinea pigs offers an easy, affordable and sustainable
source of protein for Quechua families. Providing guinea pigs for a Quechua
family offers a source of protein and additional income.
