Where We Work: China

• China: Reaching China and Tibet

The province of Yunnan in southwest China is home to 13.6 million tribal peoples including many Tibetans. A strong network of churches actively serves needy families and children in the area. The church network has established a Bible college where pastors and evangelists are being trained.

The network of churches is geographically and cultural close to Tibet and desires to begin a new ministry in the strongly Buddhist communities just over the border. The church is ready to send workers if support can be found.

• China: Rural village empowerment

In China our partners reach out to the families of peasant farmers with very low educational levels in minority groups in China. The program pays the school fees for the children of these needy families. Sponsored children not only learn to read but many continue their studies, often choosing to serve as church leaders.

One villager said, “You come and care for our children. Now, my child can receive an education so he can work in the city and the life of our family will be improved.”

• Hong Kong: Freedom from addiction

Operation Dawn works with men and women, some as young as 11 years old, to rescue them from addiction. Often, residents have recently been released from jail, and others are gang members who learned to steal to support their addiction.
