How We Identify Partners

Partners International takes seriously the responsibility of selecting indigenous ministry partners. We make decisions only after mutual discussion, prayer, and at least one extensive site visit. We evaluate each opportunity against the following guiding principles.

A good fit
We partner with Christian organizations in developing nations who are a good fit with our mission, values and doctrinal statement. We also consider our own ability to be a contributor into the partnership once it is established.

Strategic potential
We do not look for status quo initiatives. Rather, we focus on partnerships that have the vision and potential to break through existing cultural, religious or political barriers and achieve significant new growth. The partnerships we come together with our local partners to create are uniquely entrepreneurial and creative.

Local credibility
Those who know our local partner should be able to recommend it without reservation. There should also be a solid base of local people who believe in the ministry and are involved in it.

Self-sustainable in the long run
Progress toward self-sustaining status is a critical component in partnership selection. We look for partners who desire to gain economic independence.

Accountable
We partner only with organizations that are both willing and able to report how they have used partnership funding. Openness, honesty and transparency are among the essential ingredients of any successful partnership.
