Yet the spiritual and social needs in this great nation are staggering. Whether you consider the one million people sleeping on sidewalks in Kolkata every night, or the abandoned childless young wife in a rural village, India presents a huge challenge to the Christian values of redemption and the dignity of human life. Even as India grows into an economic powerhouse, there are huge swaths of the nation that are untouched by this new prosperity, and who desperately need to hear and experience a message of hope.
